Todays match was a highly constested with Ynystawe giving starting debuts to three players, Jamie Ranford in goal, Alex paisey at right back and Carl Windows on the left hand side of a 5 man midfield. The game started with Ynystawe being the aggressor immediately putting the Camford back four under pressure from Jamie's long kick outs. Whapham holding the ball up well and bringing the runners from midfield in to play, Coombzy through the middle, Webbers from the right and Carl from the left. Always having options available. The deadlock was broken after just 10 mins when a quick throw in by Cullen to Coombzy (the only throw-in Cullen got right all day) and a deaf little flick to Carl who finished well with his right peg for his first goal in Tawe colours, hopefully many more to follow. Ynystawe for some reason decided to step off Camford for the next few minutes instead of stamping their authority on the game. This gave Camford a new lease of life and started causing Tawe problems, especially down the left hand side in behind Cullen. Eventually the pressure told and Camford grabbed their equaliser. In behind Cullen again like they had done so many times before, at this point Cullen is having a mare, a little pass in side and a neat finish through Jamie's legs, Hoppy would have stopped it with his ass mind, something for u to consider Jamie, grow an ass!! It only took Tawe a few more attacks to get back into the lead, a long punt up field from Jamie and a mix up with the two Camford centre backs let Coombzy in to finish well with his left foot, yes i said left foot, and yes i said finish. Then Clarkson decided he didnt have enough of the spot light so he thought sod it im having it all and lunged into a tackle resulting in the ref telling Dai to sub him before he gets sent off. I heard it was because the Camford player said he looked like Iain Dowie. So Clarkson was substituted and another debut was given to Phil Paisey, older brother of Alex. He's gotta be gutted that his brother made the starting line-up and he was left on the bench. Phil joined Whaps up front and tawe reverted to a more conventional 4-4-2. The half ended with Tawe still causing Camford problems with Coombzy coming close from long range, and crosses from Webber and Coombzy inches away from giving Whaps a tap in, but were always suspect going backwards with Cullen on a different planet to rest of us, and Dai Lees and Alex running into each other. Well done lads comedy moment of the day. The second half started with Alex being substituted for Julian Clary, sorry i meant Parry. Ynystawe was left stunned while Camford hit a quick fire double to go 3-2 in front. Whapham tried rallying the troops but as usual, as soon as we see its Whapham shouting we just stop listening. Towards the 50 minute mark saw the return of Bolschy after his long injury last year and Mark Teesdale replacing Phil up front, a sub being subbed, got to be gutted with that Phil. Ynystawe started to get back into the game with Cullen having a better half than his first, not that it was hard. And Dai Lees more dominant in the back. After about the hour, new guy Carl was brought off for Andy Peters whos' wonder strike would have been a contender for goal of the season already............but the keeper saved it for the cameras, unlucky Petes. From the resulting corner Coombzy whipped in a looping cross and for some unknown reason the Camford full back slapped it away even though it was right on his head, nice boy dull as fuck! Whaps confidently tucked away the pen, make sure you dont miss coz i'm on them next! Only taking a few minutes to get back on level terms through another sloppy goal, 3-3. Camford must have been thinkin the game was there to be won, but dont count your chickens..... especially when we have Teesdale in our armour, another long punt up field and with just a touch off Whaps head Teesdale was in and with his lightening pace he wasn't gonna get stopped (in other words the defender couldn't be arsed) and he finished well. Clarkson like a naughty little school boy was allowed to play with his mates again because he'd LEARNT HIS LESSON, and he was made to say hes sorry and he wont do it again, replaced Coombzy, who was still in disbelief that Dai give Webber his beloved No7 shirt, to play out the final few minutes. Webber would never forgive me if i didn't mention his 30 yard strike that hit the post, hear that Mark it HIT THE POST so stop going on about it. Overall not the best of performances by a long shot....Cullen.... but a win is a win. Today was about getting a game under our belts and getting some added match fitness. Good start to pre-season.

Tawes' defence of the Valley Cup got under way at Coed Gwilym Park, eagerly watched by spectators expecting so much from the now Division 3 favorites. INCO never caused Tawe any worries what so ever, but were being bombarded by attack after attack from a very strong Ynystawe line-up. With Carl Double Glazing Windows having plenty of joy down the left. Ynystawe were handing 3 more debuts out to Paul Ankers in the centre of the park, James Hanney in the heart of the defence alongside Dai Lees and Ashley Dennis up front with Whaps, although he played more like David Ngog, couldn't hit a barn door with a hand full of rice. Luckly we had Whaps up top with him who could show him the way to goal. The deadlock was broken on about the 20 minute mark, Whaps won a flick on from Jamie's kick out and Ashley Coombs cut the ball back for Whaps to stroke the ball home comfortably. The game continued in the same manor, Ynystawe constantly attacking and Ashley Dennis constantly missing. The most blatant was a 5 yard tap in that he passed back to the very relieved INCO keeper. He did come close just after that tho with a fine effort coming back off the upright. Ynystawe went 2 to the good when yet again Dennis missed a sitter but thankfully for Tawe fans the rebound was tucked away by Ashley Coombs. After that goal, the game went a bit stale with INCO still not causing the Tawe back four any great problems, and Tawe reverting to a long ball game which was showing to be very ineffective with plenty of offsides being given. HALF TIME. The 2nd half saw Ynystawe make some changes. Reverting from a 4-4-2 formation to 3-5-2. This meant Liam Aldron replacing James Cullen, (who had a put in a better performance than his last, but still doesnt have a clue how to take the very difficult skill in taking throw-ins) joining Dai Lees and James Hanney at the back and Lee Williams replaced Daniel Clarkson in the centre of midfield. These changes turned out to by INCO's undoing. The goals started to flow, with Whaps grabbing his 2nd and Dennis eventually getting one through a unmissable tap in, i did wonder for a moment tho. The next goal came from the penalty spot, when, Ashley Coombs came in from the left and got a clear shove in the back and the referee pointed the spot. Whaps despatched the resulting kick confidently. Ankers got in on the act then when a few shots were blocked in the INCO area it fell to him 12 yards out and he lashed home leaving the keeper no chance. Tawe now making their 3rd change of the game with Ricahrd Bolsch replacing Mark Webber which meant he was in his familiar central midfield role. Dennis at this point was even asking the INCO strikers how to score having missed a even more sitters. Some how he managed to get his 2nd of the game a wonderful finish from all of 2 yards out after Whaps' shot had been initially saved. The score managed to get to 9-0 and Tawe were coasting and didnt even look like conceding a corner never mind a goal, but on 75 mins Jamie had a rush of blood and came out for a ball that he was never getting, the ball then fell to Lee Williams on the edge of the box, but instead of clearing he thought he'd take a few touches first. And he lost it to some ginger guy who actually finished quite well for a red head. The INCO sideline gave out a very sarcastic cheer but by the time those cheers had died down Tawe had gone up the other end and scored another one. An emphatic win and a great 2nd half performance. As they say you can only beat whats in front of you. Great individual performances from Man of the Match Michael Whapham with 5 goals, and Paul Ankers who on his first start in Tawe colours for quite a numbers of years managed to put in a great performance a get 2 goals himself. Less said about Ashley Dennis' debut the better really. Although scoring 2 unmissable goals, he missed out on a hat full which could have made the score more like 20-1 instead, gaining him the Minge of the Match. Great win lads now lets kick on from here.

Ynystawe only needed a point from their final group match to proceed to the semi-finals of the Valley Cup. And with an Oscar Winning performance from Dai Evans in the pre-match team talk, "I don't want one point I want 3, now go out there and get me 3!!!", the whole team were ready for the task that faced them against local rivals Sunnybank. After losing to Ynystawe last season with the last kick of the game, Sunnybank surely wanted to put that right this time around. Ynystawe started with an orthodox 4-4-2 with Liam Aldron coming in at centre back meaning James Hanney moved to right back, pushing Mark Webber up to right midfield and Ashley Coombs sliding in to the centre to cover for the absent Daniel Clarkson. The first half was a tight affair with very little chances going to either sides. The half ended of a sour note, however, with the Sunnybank centre half tackling Ashley Coombs knee high, causing both Ashley and Michael Whapham to get involved in what turned out to be just handbags. 0-0 HALF TIME. The second half started much like the first, until Ynystawe reverted to a 3-5-2 formation, which again seemed to be the turning point. Bringing on Richard Bolsch for the much improved James Cullen. Ynystawe then took the game by the scruff of its neck, and, opened the scoring on the hour mark with a delightful little chip to the far edge of the box from Paul Ankers and simply tapped in by Ashley Coombs. Man of the Match deservedly went to Carl Windows with a wonderful performance on the left hand side of midfield. Taking on defenders and creating chances almost at will. Clearly he's found his feet with ease at his new club. Ynystawe's next two goals came in quick seccession. Mark Webber Claiming both, even if he didn't know much about either. Scoring both with his eyes closed as he challenged for the ball and then finding it looping over the keepers head into the vacant net. The Sunnybanks players heads had clearly dropped and Ynystawe pounced on it, with a fourth goal, when a mix up in the defence left Ashley Dennis in on goal and he finished with supreme class. Mark Webber and Captain Michael Whapham were brought off to give Mark Teesdale and Andrew Thomas a run out. Both doing well in the time that they were given. Minge of the Match was rightly given to Ashley Coombs for a poor performance and his general moaning at both the ref and fellow team members. Theres no surprise for those who have completed a "Team Mates" form, who they have choosen as the biggest moaner. Great performance included again Carl Windows, Liam Aldron for containing their version of Peter Crouch and a much improved from last week Ashley Dennis, who after all his hard work throughout the game deserved his goal in the end.

Ynystawe's undefeated streak came to an end by the hands of Welsh League outfit Pontadawe. The main exercise for Ynysatwe in this friendly was to get another game under their belts and some extra fitness. There were also a few players who needed some valuable game time. The match started at a frantic pace with Ynstawe chasing shadows for most of the half. The Pontadawe players looking assured and controlled on the ball while the Ynystawe side treated the ball like a hot potato, although working hard in closing players down and trying to make it as hard as possible for their opponents. Pontadawe were getting plenty of joy down their left hand side in behind James Hanney and also the striker was giving Steve Howard a torid time. The deadlock was broken after only 15 mins when a clever pass inbetween Hanney and Howard set the Pontadawe winger in on Jamie's goal. The Whole of the Tawe's back four claiming offside but Cullen was playing him miles onside. The goal was taken with great assurance. Ynystawe still were finding hard to gets to grip with the Pontadawe forward play. Disaster struck on the half hour mark when James Cullen cleverly shepparded the ball back to keeper Jamie Randford only for him to drop it at the strikers feet for a simple tap in, probably the easiest goal he'll ever score. One of the only Tawe attack with any vigour brought the goal to keep them in the game. Andrew Shaw was having a quiet game on the right hand side but found himself in the box and making himself a menance. Quickly getting to the ball before the Pontadawe centre half as he let loose a vicious swipe with his right foot and he caught Andrew, the referee pointed to the spot. Every one was expecting Ashley Dennis to step up and slot the ball home, but, up form the back strolled the captain for the day Dai Lees. With all due credit he placed the ball in the bottom corner like a top striker would have. 1-2 HALF TIME. Half time saw Ynystawe ring the changes, reverting to a 3-5-2. With Michael Whapham replacing Ashley Dennis up front, Mark Webber on for Paul Ankers, Ashley Coombs on for James Cullen and Liam Aldron swapped with Steve Howard. this made a much needed difference to Tawe's attacking options With Richard Bolsch, Ashley Coombs and the outstanding Daniel Clarkson getting a more of a foothold on the game. Causing the Pontadawe defence a totally different problem. Michael Whaphamv also giving them a new dimension up front. With only 15 mins gone on the clock, Jamie had another howler as a corner came in from the right, he called it, missed it, and the ball dropped at the strikers feet who smashed it home. 1-3. three sloppy goals to conceed in truth. Ynystawe kept plugging away, and working hard and trying to get back in the game. That time came with 10 mins left. When a clever ball through to Michael Whapham from Ashley Coombs left him through on goal and he finished with ease. Overall it was a good exercise to pit our talents against a Welsh League opposition. I think Jamie's performance is one to forget (gifting Pontadawe two goals), gaining him the Minge of the Match award . Outstanding performances came from Man of the Match Daniel Clarskon who battled hard throughout ad deserves all the credit he receives.
